Position Overview

The datacenter automation specialist will orchestrator between the operating system, database, teams, driver and driving the vision.

In this role, you will be developing automation solutions for our business for providing self service capabilities to simplify IT. Keeps abreast of industry trends and best practices, recommends appropriate automation tools to help our business partners consume IT resources in an efficient and effective manner.


Responsibilities
Work with the Architecture, Development groups, Engineering, and Operations to establish standards, best practices and automation infrastructure solutions.

Developing templates or scripts to automate any type of operational workflow pipeline. Work closely with Subject Matter Experts and/or clients to identify operational pain points where automation can provide opportunities. Identifying new tools and processes to improve the cloud platform and automate processes.

Develop and lead automation solutions. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand project objectives, gather automation requirements, design automated tests, troubleshoot issues, and implement scalable automation solutions.

Define and implement efficient end-to-end provisioning Automation solutions. Serve as a subject matter expert for automation and orchestration. Identify the automation orchestration related opportunities throughout the organization. Independently contributes to automation solutions including hardware platforms, services, and operation systems.

Develop automated procedures to deploy virtualization infrastructure with minimal intervention and time to deploy. Provide performance monitoring, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and the resolution of system issues.

Responsible for continuous automation of Operating System deployments and administrative tasks including zero touch implementations. Integrate with existing system management tools.

Develop and maintain system documentation and reference manuals for procedures, policies and inventory and ensure currency through periodic review, audit and maintenance

 
Education

Bachelor's Degree (accredited school) or equivalent work experience with emphasis in:

  • Computer/Information Science
  • Information Technology
  • Management Information System (MIS)

Must have  5  +  years of experience in the following:

    • Container as a Service using Docker/Kubernetes
    • Infrastructure as Software (Container Orchestration, Observability, CI/CD)
    • Modern software engineering using agile SDLC practices including DevSecOps
    • Modern security practices
    • Modern API design
    • Micro-service architectures at scale
    • Modern data architectures (e.g. NoSQL, event driven architectures, platform approaches to support ML/AI at scale, stream processing, and integrating real time analytics into customer applications)
    • Modern software application frameworks such as Spring Boot
    • Programming/Scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript/NodeJS, Go, Python, Terraform, Ansible, Chef/Puppet.
    • Document enterprise/software architectures using TOGAF/ArchiMate, UML or similar methodologies
    • Experience in Site Reliability Engineering

    Project Management Skills:

    • Ability to develop plans/projects from conceptualization to implementation

    • Ability to work effectively across organizational and geographical boundaries

    Other Skills:

    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an Information Systems environment required

    • Minimum 2 years field experience at the Enterprise level with next-generation cloud technologies with highly available, fully virtualized, and highly automated environment at scale - VMware, Red Hat, Microsoft, Cisco, Openstack, etc.

    • Minimum 3 years of Compute, Networking, and Storage background across varying vendors with experience with associated technology Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).

    • Basic understanding of one or more of the leading Public Clouds; Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.

    • Experience with cloud automation and container tools like bash scripting, Ansible, Docker, Chef or Puppet.

    • Experience using configuration management tools such as Ansible, Saltstack, Puppet or Chef.

    • Experience with VMware products like vRealize Automation and vRealize Orchestration.

    • Creating Web Services/REST/SOAP.

    • Experience with ITIL processes and methodologies for problem, change and incident management.

    • Experience with vSphere virtualization technologies and Methodologies.

    • Experience working with and troubleshooting TCP/IP, FTP, and DNS issues.

    • Experience deploying server agents (e.g., back up, monitoring, etc.) in a scripted fashion.

    • Knowledge of SAN and iSCSI protocols and connectivity.

    • OS Provisioning experience a plus (SCCM, MDT, WIM, KickStart, etc.).

    • Experience with configuring Windows Server settings using group policy objects (GPOs).

    • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Visio.

    • Ability to learn, evaluate new product releases, considering enhancement to existing or integration into our environment.

    • Familiarity with a variety of enterprise management tools and software.

    • Strong commitment to setting goals and achieving results.

    • Excellent research, analytical, and troubleshooting skills are mandatory.

    • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
