Solution Designer - IT Infrastructure Projects at Mercedes-Benz USA (Atlanta, GA)

Position Overview

The datacenter automation specialist will orchestrator between the operating system, database, teams, driver and driving the vision.

In this role, you will be developing automation solutions for our business for providing self service capabilities to simplify IT. Keeps abreast of industry trends and best practices, recommends appropriate automation tools to help our business partners consume IT resources in an efficient and effective manner.

Responsibilities
Work with the Architecture, Development groups, Engineering, and Operations to establish standards, best practices and automation infrastructure solutions.

Developing templates or scripts to automate any type of operational workflow pipeline. Work closely with Subject Matter Experts and/or clients to identify operational pain points where automation can provide opportunities. Identifying new tools and processes to improve the cloud platform and automate processes.

Develop and lead automation solutions. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand project objectives, gather automation requirements, design automated tests, troubleshoot issues, and implement scalable automation solutions.

Define and implement efficient end-to-end provisioning Automation solutions. Serve as a subject matter expert for automation and orchestration. Identify the automation orchestration related opportunities throughout the organization. Independently contributes to automation solutions including hardware platforms, services, and operation systems.

Develop automated procedures to deploy virtualization infrastructure with minimal intervention and time to deploy. Provide performance monitoring, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and the resolution of system issues.

Responsible for continuous automation of Operating System deployments and administrative tasks including zero touch implementations. Integrate with existing system management tools.

Develop and maintain system documentation and reference manuals for procedures, policies and inventory and ensure currency through periodic review, audit and maintenance 
 

Education

Bachelor's Degree (accredited school) with emphasis in:

• Computer/Information Science

• Information Technology

• Management Information System (MIS)

Licenses/Certifications

• Project Management Certifications, i.e. PMP or Prince2, preferred
• Scrum Master Certification Preferred

Must have 5 + years (total) of experience in the following:

• Strong
  trong> working knowledge of IT infrastructure:

• 3-Tiered Architecture

• Network (TCP/IP, Firewall concepts)

• OS concepts: Linux, AIX, Windows Server

• Storage (SAN, NAS)

• Cloud concepts (AWS, Azure)
  
  

• 5+ years of experience in the following:

• Administration Knowledge of administrative procedures, process/project development, and system procedures.

• Business - General Knowledge of fundamental business practices and concepts that impact the success and profitability of the organization.

• Business Management Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, human resource management and efficiency and process methods.

• Education Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, including adult learning theory, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

• Finance Knowledge and understanding of the implications of key financial indicators and controls and assessing impact of financial information.

• Processing Knowledge of processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques in order to achieve maximum efficiency.

• Purchasing Knowledge of acquisition techniques that minimize costs for products or services

• Quality Assurance Knowledge of accounting standards, statistical analysis, precision measurement, and process capability.
  
  

• 3+ years of experience in public cloud environments (AWS, Azure) managing implementations and operational tasks
  
  

• 2+ years of experience in a DevOps organization working with DevOps engineers managing infrastructure as code and configuration management

• 1+ year of experience with:

• Containerized environments such as Docker and Kubernetes

• Scrum processes and agile frameworks 

Preferred Skills / Experience

• Cloud certifications from AWS or Azure

• Experience with cloud migrations from traditional datacenter

• Analytical Skills:

• Ability to collect data and establish facts and identify trends and variances

• Ability to integrate information from a variety of sources with varied levels of complexity

• Ability to review and interpret and evaluate statistical information

• Ability to formulate and test hypotheses for the purpose of forecasting outcomes

• IT Skills:

• Ability to incorporate new technology into current and future business applications

• Ability to develop and execute hardware and/or software test plans and test specifications

• Ability to participate on an agile team for infrastructure set up

• Project Management Skills:

• Ability to develop plans/projects from conceptualization to implementation

• Ability to organize workflow and direct tasks as well as document milestones and ROIs and resolve problems

• Ability to organize and manage a team
   

Knowledge of ITSM standards.

• Experience in managing intercultural IT projects.
