Our iOS story


As a quick intro to the Catawiki iOS environment, we’re currently 80% of the way through our migration from Objective-C to Swift 4, and are rolling out some really exciting new features ranging from a total rebuild of the ‘lot detail screen’ (one of the most used parts of the app) to improving the search functionality that lets our users filter through thousands of unique items that change on a weekly basis. Our iOS platform team builds, maintains and perfects our auction app for iOS devices.


So what's the job  


Here at Catawiki, you will have a huge impact, working in a data-driven way to add value to the business along with the 5 other members of the iOS team. To enable our business to grow, experiment and innovate the product, you’ll be adding new features to create an even greater experience for our users.


You’ll make a great impact on the product, as you’ll be both part of a product team, well as being part of the wider iOS platform team.consisting of front-end and back-end developers, a Product Owner, and a UX Designer, as well as being part of the wider iOS platform team. Together with the team, you’ll explore the best way to further build out the app’s architecture, reviewing pull requests and shipping new features that will benefit our millions of users.


How we roll - Our Stack


You will work with Swift, Objective-C, and Cocoa Touch frameworks, Cocoapods, Fastlane, Quick & Nimble. You’ll use VIPER as your leading view architecture. It is important that you’re a fast and willing learner with a keen eye for business and product.


You're also part of the iOS platform team with all other iOS developers across the teams. In this role, you'll discuss technical improvements of the app and review pull requests.


You'll have plenty of freedom to bring in ideas to optimize our product. Within the team, you’ll be given plenty of freedom to bring in ideas to optimize the product.


You'll move in sync with...


Your primary team is the product team, consisting of frontend and backend developers, a product owner and a UX designer. You'll be the iOS platform expert within the team, developing the iOS part of features within the team's domain (e.g. Search & Discovery, or Payments), and discussing the best native way to develop the features with PO and designer.


A little bit about you


You should be experienced with Swift, though the rest of stack that you're used to working with is not so important, as long as you're motivated to learn new things, ship new features, and tackle new and interesting challenges.


Next, to this, it’s likely you’ll also have experience with the following:



  • Swift, Objective-C and Cocoa Touch frameworks

  • Object-oriented and functional programming paradigms

  • Framework-based development, and Cocoapods

  • API design and management

  • Unit testing

  • Distribution process and build automation

  • A/B testing
