Grubhub is seeking experienced engineers to join its Simulation Team. This team builds our delivery simulation, which we use to drive business policies and understand how the delivery ecosystem works. As a simulation engineer, you will work with business stakeholders, decision scientists, and systems engineers and analysts to create a simulated delivery environment that is realistic, massively parallel, and easy to extend. You will implement and run experiments that directly inform and improve our business.
Some Challenges You’ll Tackle
- Design, implement and deliver awesome technical platforms and products for all constituencies (diners, corporate accounts, restaurants, internal tools)
- Understand our products from both a technical and business perspective in the context of our larger business.
- Communicate with leadership, product owners, other technologists, and users to create working software based on an understanding of business and technical priorities.
- Break down complex problems into elegant technical solutions to intelligently solve problems for GrubHub.com diners, restaurant, corporate accounts and internal stakeholders
- Actively contribute to the adoption of strong software architecture, development best practices, and new technologies. We are always improving the process of building software; we need you to help contribute.
- You will be a key part in accurately estimating the timing of software delivery
You Should Have
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Programming or Engineering related field
- 4 + years experience building software tools
- Familiarity with interface design and systems of systems architectures
- Some exposure to simulation methodology or game development
- Proficient in workflow scripting and design
- Experience working in a test-driven development
- Java, C#, or a similar modern object-oriented language
- Exposure to virtualization and automation
- Experience deploying command-line software applications in the cloud
- Knowledge of SQL and databases
- Familiar with Agile methodologies
