Product Manager at ProSight Specialty Insurance (Morristown, NJ)

At ProSight, digital innovation is key to our continued success and growth. The Digital team is a core component of our strategy to deliver a differentiated experience to customers and partners. The Digital team is responsible for developing online and mobile solutions for our customers, agents and employees through engaging interfaces enabled by cutting-edge technologies. We believe that the best solutions occur when the right mix of disciplines and skills are brought together on an integrated team that is open to ideas, is not afraid to push the envelope, and is ready to challenge the status quo of the Insurance industry. We are looking to build the core competencies of our team with people who are energetic, entrepreneurial, and driven by a desire to make a significant impact.

The Product Manager role will manage the product road map (and its dependencies), as well as the execution. The ideal candidate has the right balance of experience working in a highly technical team, leading multiple initiatives in the digital space as a servant leader, and providing guidance and leadership to the team from a product and execution standpoint. The Product Manager will be the key to clearing roadblocks, collaborating across multiple teams within and outside of Digital, and anticipating needs of the product, user, and team. You are someone who can see patterns in seemingly unrelated events, and can skillfully navigate the ever evolving organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage one or more Digital products and the related product teams.

  • Partner with UX, BA and the underwriting teams to develop and groom product road maps and backlogs, and make sure they align with the strategic direction of the company as well as the Digital team.

  • Establish a feedback process with the Digital team, IT team, Sr. Management, and the larger ProSight organization to align on product road maps.

  • Drive data-based decision making, using web and data analytics.

  • Work hand-in-hand with the product team as well as the core IT team to plan and execute projects/product capabilities.

  • Responsible for managing team’s capacity, continuously evaluating it, and adjusting it to respond to a dynamic and evolving landscape.

  • Manage the day-to-day development efforts, and be able to proactively assess upcoming conflicts as well as manage the issues raised by the team.

  • Create Customer focused products, and collaborate across teams to find solutions best suited for the Customer’s needs.

  • Help develop and proactively manage the Product Development life cycle for each of the Digital products, from concept to design to development, including deployment, as well as post-production and ongoing support.

  • Create a culture of collaboration and expediency.

  • Partner with Digital and IT release management to plan releases across the various products.

  • Monitor, share and evaluate delivery, and measure progress to ensure value is delivered early and often.

  • Manage contracts, budgets and staff augmented resources.

Qualifications

  • Preferred 5+ years’ experience in managing medium to large sized digital products and projects, using SAFe or Scrum frameworks.

  • Certified Scrum Master (preferable through Scrum Alliance).

  • Preferably have varied experience in the past as a BA, QA, and/or Developer (this is not a hands’ on coding position, but a technical background is highly preferred).

  • Comfortable with Agile tools such as Basecamp, Visual Studio Team Services, Jira Agile, or VersionOne.

  • Online B2C experience preferred.

  • Have worked in both Waterfall and Agile environments, but have a preference for Agile.

  • Be a servant leader.

  • Be able to project the trajectory of various tracks, to predict if the product release is on track.

  • Must have an eye for detail, but be able to ‘see the forest for the trees’.

  • Have a work ethic of “ASAP” rather than “just in time”.

  • Be masterful in holding your ground as needed to make sure the team can continue to make progress.

  • Comfortable facilitating a technical discussion with Architects, Developers and others.

  • Be able to influence decisions, resources, and work happening outside of Digital.

  • Master communicator and expert facilitator.

  • Able to identify risks and issues before they manifest.

  • Ability to translate and clearly communicate status.

  • Be precise in execution.

  • Ability to manage expectations across multiple teams.

  • Not be a pure ‘task-master’.

  • Not be someone who can only work as an “individual contributor”.

  • Not be afraid of change or evolution.
