Omitron is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fulfill a full time position open for an RPO Software Engineer to support NASA’s Restore-L Ground System Development & Operations Team. This team is responsible for development the Restore-L Ground System Software and providing Mission Operations support from pre-launch until spacecraft disposal. Candidate will participate in mission concept of operation development with respect to the ground system. This position will transition from software development to on-orbit spacecraft operations. Specific areas of support will include:
- Developing ground operations software for monitoring rendezvous and proximity operations
- Leading software development of 6DOF estimation analysis tool and planing modifications needed for operations of new mission
- Designing additional software/visualizations that are necessary for supervising autonomous rendezvous & capture
- Conducting requirements analysis, design, prototyping, coding, unit testing, integration and test, documentation, sustaining engineering, and post-launch ops support
- Participating in concept of operations development for the Restore-L mission operations and ground system
- Participating in Mission Engineering Reviews (CDR, ORR, LRR, etc.)
Required Skills:
- Experience in C and Unix
- Experience with Git
- Experience with ground system software development
- Understanding of Software Development Lifecycles
- Have the ability to adapt and respond to changing circumstances and priorities
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Desired Skills:
- Experience with optical navigation and 6DOF orbit/attitude estimation from sensor imagery highly desired
- Experience with FreeFlyer and Matlab is highly desired
- Experience with spacecraft rendezvous operations
- Knowledge of Orbital Mechanics
