iOS/Android Developer - Cyber Vulnerability at JHU Applied Physics Laboratory (Laurel, MD)

Job Summary:


Seeking a creative and inventive engineer who will research cyber vulnerabilities and develop innovative Android or iPhone software at all layers from the application framework to the OS kernel level.  Analyze devices to understand how they work and how they behave when hacked.  Collaborate with teams of engineers working on leading edge technologies, developing and defeating new and advanced security techniques.



Duties:



  • Hack hardware, firmware and software. Dissect and reverse engineer binaries.  Collaborate with team members in the analysis and reverse engineering of hardware, firmware and operating systems to understand security vulnerabilities in mobile devices. (40%)



  • Create solutions for prototype and operational systems involving hardware and software development using knowledge gained from reverse engineering and vulnerability research. (40%)



  • Share knowledge by clearly articulating ideas through papers and presentations to technical staff, management and Government decision makers. Take advantage of opportunities to participate in working groups, customer meetings, proposal writing, and conferences. (20%)



Required Qualifications:




  • BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Technical Degree

  • 6+ years professional experience

  • Understanding of iOS or Android internals

  • Working knowledge of ARM assembly

  • Experience developing software/firmware for Android, iOS or other cellular devices

  • Understanding of exploit techniques and mitigations

  • Current TS/SCI with polygraph


Desired Qualifications:




  • MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering

  • 9+ years of professional experience

  • Strong C/ARM assembly development skills

  • Experience using reverse engineering tools such as IdaPro

  • Understanding of wire-level protocols, RF communications
