The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Cyber Security Systems Engineer.
Job Summary: Provide CIP cyber security systems engineering expertise to DoD and DHS sponsored programs.
Duties (Listed in order of importance with the estimated amount of time spent at each task):
1) Perform cyber risk assessment and solution engineering for critical infrastructure systems (e.g., Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) or Installation Industrial Control Systems (ICS). (50%)
2) Analyze and develop requirements, systems architecture, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), and test plans. (40%)
3) Document and present results. (10%)

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security or related fields.
- 2 or more years of experience as a cyber security systems engineer for a major acquisition program with an understanding of the system development lifecycle (requirements, architecture, design, development, testing).
- Demonstrated knowledge of Critical Infrastructure Industrial Control System operations.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Proven ability to work in small teams and demonstrate critical thinking in developing solutions to complex problems.
Desired Qualifications:
- Masters of Science Degree in Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security or related fields.
- 5 or more years of experience providing cyber security systems engineering for DoD or DHS.
- Knowledge of cyber risk assessment.
- Cyber security education, training, or certification (CISSP preferred).
- Demonstrated successful team leadership experience in the development of solutions to complex CIP problems.
- Knowledge of the Internet of Things (IoT).
- Active Secret clearance.
