meltmedia is seeking a Senior Software Architect to help us continue to deliver exceptional, web-based, technical solutions to our clients problems. You will lead a team of highly talented software developers building solutions for our clients where off-the-shelf solutions would not cut it.
Your day in the life will be split between ensuring your department has what it needs from a high level to be successful, while also working with established cross-discipline teams to develop solutions that make our client's lives better. You will be expected to share your knowledge with your teammates, mentoring them through the challenges and providing a path for them to be successful. In addition to the above, you will also be a formal supervisor for several members of your team.
The right candidate will have extensive experience in the trenches, developing custom software solutions for clients. You will be an expert translator, from the clients high level vision, into low-level technical details, and back. At times you will develop proof-of-concept designs to help your teams through difficult problems. You are not afraid to jump in and help a team with glue when they just need a little extra help to meet their next deliverable. You understand there are often simple technical solutions to what may seem like unsurmountable problems to our clients. You thrive on making people's lives better through technology.
We are a cloud-first shop leveraging much of the AWS stack. When possible, we prefer using managed services over re-inventing the wheel. As such, you should have extensive experience with various AWS offerings and know how to utilize them appropriately and effectively. We develop loosely-coupled services, that are deployed using fully automated CI/CD solutions to containers and/or lambdas, multiple times a day, with confidence. We value orchestration services such as SWF or Step Functions where appropriate. Our solutions tend to be a polyglot approach that may use Java, client and server-side JavaScript, and Python, depending on the needs of each project.
As a Senior Software Architect, there will be ample opportunity to introduce new and better technologies, techniques, and solutions that grow our expertise and ultimately provide for better solutions for our clients.
Your prior experiences and the impact you personally had on the outcomes of those solutions, good and bad, will ultimately be the most important factor in determining if you are the right person for this role.
