The Role
You will be designing, developing and maintaining web applications that are deployed on our cloud-delivered platform and powered by our APIs. You will be a crucial part of a dynamic, energized and agile team, delivering leading edge solutions that are used across the globe by millions of visitors each month. More senior level candidates will be considered for a Lead role.
When joining the development team at ITHAKA, you can expect to receive tool and product training. We have an excellent onboarding program, which enables new engineers to become productive very quickly. A lead will work closely with you as you begin engaging with your assigned agile team. We will provide you with constant support as we work to make you comfortable in your new environment. Those in leadership roles will work to set you up for success.

The primary responsibilities of the Web App Developer are:
- Work closely with Product Owner and Users to design and develop Web Applications.
- Interact with internal and external customers to understand needs and lead the development of web applications to meet those needs.
- Participate as a member of an agile team leveraging continuous deployment and test automation in order to deploy application changes to production.
- Implement rich, interactive web applications using the latest technologies, frameworks, and patterns.
- Leverage web analytics as needed to support Product Development and to measure project KPIs.
- Test, measure, and optimize front-end performance using Application Performance Management and Web Developer Tools.
More senior level candidates will be considered for a Lead role, where they will:
- Support and mentor other web application developers.
- Participate in leadership meetings as needed to provide additional insight to business stakeholders.
Skills, Experience, and Characteristics:
- Familiarity - to expert level- with UI frameworks like Angular, Foundation and Bootstrap.
- Familiarity - to expert level- with Design/Coding CSS & HTML.
- Expert level skills in SASS and Javascript including technologies like Grunt/Gulp, Node.js and Handlebars. Lead-level candidates also have experience with Vue.js.
- Familiarity unit testing with Jasmine or QUnit
- Experience implementing with Java and Spring (optional).
- Familiarity building web applications in Python/Django or PHP
- Experience using browser based web developer tools to analyze and optimize UI performance.
- Fluency in accessibility, usability, information architecture, and interaction design principles.
- Willingness and ability to learn new approaches and emerging technology.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Leads will have experience:
- implementing responsive design interfaces targeted for tablets and mobile phones.
- interpreting data schemas, and has an opinion on API formats.
- supporting and mentoring application developers.
