Software Developer Java/Web Technologies (full stack) (gn*)
Location: Munich
To support the InfoChem team in Munich we are looking for a full stack Software Developer for Java/Web Technologies.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Maintenance and improvement of existing products in the field of cheminformatics, especially Computer Aided Synthesis Design and customer projects
- Design, implementation and continuous enhancement based on customer feedback of a new product in the field of chemical reaction handling
- Active participation in the design, planning, programming and continuous improvement of customer tailored solutions
- Maintenance and improvement of our in-house development and test workflows
- Continuous research in the field of web technologies and assessment of new tools and standards for our software development
Requirements and qualifications:
- Master (or similar degree) in computer science or related course
- Favorable: Some background in life sciences, ideally chemistry
- Several years of programming experience in Java, JavaScript and Groovy
- Experience with Grails, Spring-Boot and node.js frameworks
- Familiarity with Linux-based environments
- Knowledge about common software engineering tools and practices (incl. version control, code testing, build tools etc.)
- Excellent communication and organization skills, initiative, readiness of mind, analytical thinking, flexibility, and excellent self-organizing as well as team working skills
- Goal-oriented and structured thinking, high interest in working in a cheminformatics environment, openness for yet unsolved problems
- Willingness to contribute to the software design/architecture process
- Experience in graph databases, i.e. neo4j
- Experience in devops technologies, i.e. docker
- Experience in application deployment and web server administration
- Excellent communication skills in English and German (written and verbal)
- Efficient and accurate way of working to meet tight deadlines
- Willingness to work in a multi-disciplinary team consisting of chemists, biologists and software engineers
