DevOps Engineer - Backend/Ruby (m/w) Digital Sports at ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE (Munich, Germany)

We are searching for a DevOps Engineer (Backend/Ruby) to own the DOSB NM backend infrastructure. In this role, you will own our video ingest, hosting, structuring, and play-out processes.


Responsibilities will be implementing the following tasks (exemplary):



  • Set up intelligent server infrastructure/architecture to run our video systems

  • Establish reliable CDN (video streaming)

  • Ensure smooth running of operations via smart monitoring and error prevention mechanisms

  • Operate automated data ingest to enable rich set of meta data

  • Optimize video ingest process (encoding, video rendering, video transformation)

  • Implement client structure, such that various frontends (different user- and databases, segmented CMS/MAMS, etc) can be operated from the same backend

  • Provide API endpoints for video access to distribution partners

  • Prepare backend structures to lay grounds for our front-end development team

  • Guide and challenge our front-end developers on implementing sound (progressive) web/iOS/Android applications


Ideal profile:



  • Computer science or comparable studies with a focus on IT

  • Relevant programming skills:


    • several years experience in programming Ruby and Ruby on Rails

    • Strong experience in MongoDB, ELK (elasticresearch, logstash, Kibana), nginx, Lua, Redis, Memcached, FFmpeg, Git and Linux

    • Interest/solid experience in iOS/Android development


  • Well-grounded project experience; user stories can be communicated from non-developers and candidate automatically structures the problem in relevant tasks for implementation; candidate communicates recommendations on solving the story to project manager in short and precise way

  • Fluent English
