Our Tech department builds and drives our own customer-facing applications and internal services on top of Zalando’s platform services. We have a strong focus on customer experience and learn and experiment how we can engage them even more. Being a member of a tech department, consisting of about 50 engineers, UX designers, and product managers, this position will allow you to directly impact the business mission of Zalando Lounge. As a Senior Software Engineer in Marketing Tech you will work hands on in Java or Scala to develop tools and services that drive automated customer communication through multiple channels (E-mail, social media, messaging, etc). You help us to deliver every day a personalized message to each of our customers based on our learnings.
YOU ARE SETTING STANDARDS
Variety. Together with your team, product managers and stakeholders you will drive the development of our marketing and communication systems, ensuring efficient and personalized customer communication. You will also be responsible of shaping a scalable, flexible and performant architecture of the internal systems and their interfacing to internal and external platforms/APIs.
Autonomy. Due to the size and startup-like set up of the tech team you will have the opportunity to decide together with your team on technical frameworks being used and have the opportunity to implement best practices whilst the team is growing.
Ownership. You will have end-to-end responsibility for all of your projects and will focus on building scalable and cloud ready software solutions in our AWS and API-first tech environment.
Excellence. Due to your business mindset, you are continually thinking about new ways on how to help Zalando Lounge scale by building a strong technical platform and automated business processes. You build systems for production and implement high-quality solutions, ensuring latency, availability and appropriate monitoring.
YOU ARE SKILLED
Experience. You are experienced in integrating external and internal API services and are excited about building end-to-end solutions that serve the purpose.
Technologies. You unleash the power of internal and external (3rd-party) platforms and services (Zalando’s Fashion Platform, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, data warehousing solutions, etc.). Experience in building frontend pages (HTML, CSS, JS) would also be beneficial. You are highly skilled in at least one of the following programming languages: Java or Scala. Previous experience working in cloud environments such as in AWS is a plus. Check our Tech Radar for more information on the technologies we use.
Business mindset. You have a business mindset and are continuously thinking about new ways on how to improve Zalando Lounge through the effective and strategic development of internal systems.
Knowledge Exchange. You will lead and mentor team members in terms of best practices, code quality, and tech frameworks.
