We're looking to hire an intern or temp employee to help classify and score financial news articles. The role involves crawling web sites that deliver financial news, relating that news article to stock price movements, and categorizing the article based on its contents. This data will then be disseminated to our clients around the world to allow them to make more informed trading decisions.
This role is a self contained project intended to last 3-4 months and is perfect for a summer job for students finishing up their second or third year of studies. Any candidate applying to this role should be comfortable programming in Python, have some familiarity with HTTP and HTML as well as some background with natural language processing or machine learning. Knowledge of core data structures and algorithms is a requirement and a background in statistics is an added bonus.
Over the course of the summer you will become familiar with financial markets, how to trade live on the stock market, and how to interpret financial metrics to make trading decisions both in a discretionary manner as well as basic techniques for automating your trading decisions.
