The Software Developer is responsible for developing features and functions for our CityView product suite. This will range from installed, Windows based applications to leading-edge, browser-based applications, as well as integrations with third-party systems like payment gateways, document management systems, and financial systems. With a user base that spans government employees, field workers, and the general public, CityView’s products affect a large and diverse user community with ever-evolving needs and expectations. The successful candidate possesses a passion for creating innovative solutions for large organizations such as local governments.
The role involves understanding complex requirements, implementing features on a wide variety of platforms, performing unit testing, writing maintainable code, and providing documentation of their work for release notes. He/she has experience working with sophisticated, business-critical systems, modern web technologies, the Microsoft platform, and database management systems (especially MS SQL Server). This individual is driven, curious, creative, and exercises excellent judgment to plan and accomplish goals, while performing a variety of tasks in a fast-paced, challenging (and never boring!) work environment.
Primary Functions
- Interpret business requirements and envisage creative solutions.
- Code to a set of specifications within a defined period of time.
- Design of new product features and incorporation of new technologies.
- Participate in the testing and quality control processes for the product.
- Analytical and problem solving;
- Very high skills relating to the production of accurate and detailed work;
- Keep records and systems updated with accurate status and progress information.
- Occasionally provide internal support to other departments
- Occasionally provide assistance to the Sales team
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Strong working knowledge of programming IDEs such as MS Visual Studio and configuration management tools such as GIT
- Development experience with modern web application stacks and several of the following: .Net, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, HTML5, Angular, jquery, C#, and MS SQL Server.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Interest in large, enterprise level software applications.
- Experience with GIS is an asset.
- Attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure.
- Positive, proactive, take-charge attitude.
