The Role:

Want to work with bleeding-edge data processing technologies utilizing the JVM to build a fast, flexible, and extensible Big Data pipeline?  Do you love having the freedom and autonomy to use the languages and tools that you want to do so?  Do you want to work in a team that is open, transparent, and agile?  Do you want to get experience working with massive amounts of social media advertising data?  Then good news, Unified is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build our new data pipeline!  We integrate with most social media advertising APIs to build a pipeline that delivers high powered analytics to our clients.

What you'll do:

• Be a valued team member who has a large voice in determining the architecture of the system

• Design and implement performant, scalable, and distributed data processing services

• Work with a friendly, capable, and passionate team

• Practice and enforce disciplined software engineering (writing tests, code reviews, and pair programming)

• Own initiatives from architecture, design, execution to deployment

Who you are:

Youre someone who enjoys working closely with others in a team-based environment.  Youre someone that has seen multiple code bases and wants to contribute from day one.  You are a self-starter and passionate about creating robust, solid, and flexible software.  Youd rather be working on the backend of the code and contributing to the core services that make our Platform run.  Youve had experience developing software that actually goes to market, not just one-off apps.  You are very comfortable with experimenting.

Need to have:

• 6+ years of professional software development experience

• Must have strong Java skills 

• Experience developing modern services and applications running on the JVM

• Understanding of software development lifecycle and best practices

• Strong knowledge of RDBMs

• Experience with Big Data technologies (Kafka, Redshift, Hive, Spark, Hadoop, or related)

• Experience with Git and command-line

• Knowledge of testing Methodologies

Nice to have:

• Experience using Neo4J or understanding of graph databases

• Exposure to Microservices Architecture

• Experience with Amazon Web Services

• Experience working with Social Network APIs (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc.)
