Position Purpose


At SafetyCulture, we build awesome products that help our customers to drive change and create safe and efficient workplaces. SafetyCulture iAuditor is the world’s most loved checklist inspection app in the world, with over 1 million inspections performed every month and more than 50,000 DAU's. This means we have some pretty cool scalability challenges across the whole stack.


We have doubled our engineering team year on year. We currently have 60 Engineers and will be adding a considerable number this year too, to work on new features & new products. We work in cross-functional feature/product teams, use the latest tech stack and have a culture where people are excited to come to work.

We are looking for an Engineering Team Lead to join the team to ensure we grow and develop our people, ensuring they are both supported and challenged. In this role you will be a people leader as well as being responsible for the team building quality solutions, effectively delivering and maintaining operational excellence. You will work closely with the Product Manager and have 6-8 reports - Mobile, Frontend, Backend Engineers and QA.

Key Responsibilities

Technology



  • Facilitate or make technology and solution decisions for the team

  • Drive a culture of “Quality as a whole team responsibility”

  • Raise the bar of the company - influence the greater business, bring ideas and focus on learning

  • Roll up your sleeves and get stuck in to remove blockers - lead by example and deep dive where needed

  • Measure, maintain and improve operational excellence and quality of our platforms


People



  • Develop your people ensuring they are both supported and challenged - regular 1:1’s, mentorship and provide constructive feedback

  • Build an energised and balanced team - cross train, proactively drive to building a diverse environment

  • Motivate and energise the team, injecting a sense of fun and focus


Delivery



  • Lead delivery for the team - own the sprint goal and act as Scrum Master, enable autonomy and provide transparency on progress

  • Partner with Product Management to translate product vision into deliverable roadmaps

  • Drive a process of continuous improvement, learning and development


Customer & Product



  • Connect the team to our mission, ensuring they understand the problems we are trying to solve, through customer stories

  • Own operational excellence - own problems to completion and then figure out how to prevent it for next time



Requirements



  • Experience building and leading software and growing high performing Software Engineers

  • A strong engineering background with the ability to deep dive into technical discussions

  • Experience leading delivery using an agile approach

  • Experience working in mobile led teams using a microservices architecture will give you a head start

  • Empathy for the customer with an ability to identify problems and propose the right solution

  • Able to strike the balance of team health, delivery throughput and platform/operational excellence

  • A passion for technology and how it can enrich lives

  • A Learning mindset with the capacity to grow with our organisation and take on ever-increasing challenges
