BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree with equivalent experience in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Human Computer Interaction or equivalent quantitative field.

  • 4 years of data analysis

  • 4 years of web development

  • 2 years of building data visualizations

  • Portfolio of successful works

  • Experience in: SQL with advanced analytical functions, R, ggplot, Shiny, Python, Matplotlib, Django, Flask, Web(HTML, CSS. JavaScript), D3.js, WebGL, Docker, Vagrant, Jenkins and Vertica.

  • Ability to design database schemas

  • Experience with consuming and building APIs

  • Agile working environment, experience.

  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Insurance industry experience highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of visualization best practices.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong coding skills with knowledge of software design patterns.

  • 5 years of experience preferred.


POSITION SUMMARY


The position is a Senior Front-End Developer with a focus on Data Visualization. The position will be a member of the Data Visualization Team which is part of the larger Data Science Team at MassMutual. This role will work closely with a lead designer and other engineers to build internal business intelligence applications and visualizations. These web applications are customized to the needs of stakeholders and are designed to be insightful, highly interactive, and allow for data discovery and exploration.


This role will also work on the development of reusable user interface and visualization libraries to aid other developers, in the Data Science department, to build their own tools which conform to the standards prescribed by the Data Visualization Team. Additionally, the libraries maintained by the Visualization Team are publicly available and therefore contribute to the open source community.
