We are looking for 2 Sr. Java Developers with to join a newly formed development team with our customer, a financial services company located in the DC area (Reston, Virginia). The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4+ years of experience as a full stack developer and be willing to work onsite in the office.
Job Description: The Java Developer/Analyst will be responsible for the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of large scale financial application systems. The primary development environment is Java Enterprise Edition running within a JBoss application server on RedHat Enterprise Linux with a backend Sybase relational database system.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all phases of the application development life cycle in a corporate environment including analysis, design, programming, testing, implementation and maintenance.
- Contribute to improved operations by developing and maintaining financial application systems that meet the needs using various techniques and technologies, including agile development.
- Develop and communicate application design and support documentation.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date end user documentation.
- Provide effective support and training of application users by addressing and resolving application related problems and issues in a timely manner.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 4-6 years of Java experience developing applications in a professional software development environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing n-tier Java EE web-based applications deployed in a RHEL/JBoss environment.
- Integrated Development Environments: Eclipse and Maven
- Source control systems: Subversion
- Frameworks: Struts, Hibernate
- Advanced SQL skills (Sybase preferred)
- Ability to apply object-oriented design and programming concepts, including design patterns.
- Ability to understand business processes of Fixed Income Securities.
- Ability to quickly become a subject matter expert for critical business applications that support debt issuance and servicing.
- Strong project management and problem solving skills.
- Superior written and oral communication skills to include demonstrated experience writing and / or editing procedures and documentation.
- Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment while continuing to progress on longer term project completion.
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively with employee at all levels within an organization.

Experience with the following tools is a plus:
- ColdFusion development
- Ability to develop UNIX or RHEL-based scripts
- Configuring application servers such as JBoss and ColdFusion
- Working knowledge of financial services and mortgage industries, including related rules and regulations, is preferred.
Education:
- BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent work experience.
