Cyber Engineer/Red Team Tester at IDS International (Arlington, VA)

Cyber Engineer

Why IDS?

Today’s virtual training environments are segmented and simplistic—the opposite of the real-world’s complex and integrated cyber battlefield. When even the most subtle input can influence every other facet of an operation, the one-dimensional training provided to our armed forces is not only outdated, it flat-out fails to equip them to outpace the operational tempo of the rapidly-evolving multi-domain battlefield. In the virtual arena, new threats emerge every day. IDS provides the tools for warfighters and cyber operators not just to prepare for them, but to anticipate the risks and to be ready for them when they arrive.

Social Media Environment and Internet Replication (SMEIR™), a product of IDS International Government Services, is a digital training solution that provides a full-range, free-play, immersive, realistic and scalable operational practice environment in which warfighters simultaneously train on full-spectrum cyberspace operations and social media analytics during integrated and multi-dimensional exercises.

IDS International is seeking a Cyber Engineer to support the Cyber & Social Media team. The office is located in Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities:

  • Design networks and implement a wide range of technologies to include DNS, TOR, windows and UNIX workstations and servers, and multiple routing and firewall devices.

  • Work independently, as well as on a team of engineers, to design and implement new networks and training scenarios.

  • Provide product demonstrations and interface with customers.

  • Build a dynamic environment to train individuals and groups on established penetration testing methodology, tools and rules of engagements.

  • Research and implement emerging technologies.

  • Implement scenario specific traffic generation within SMEIR.

  • Research and implement threat emulation relevant to changing scenarios.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or Cybersecurity.

  • At least 3 years of experience directly related to Red Team assessments or penetration testing (intranet, internet, web, wireless, social engineering).

  • Possess one of the following certifications: OSCP, OSWP, GPEN, GWAPT, OSCE, OSEE, GXPN.

  • Experience with scripting languages (e. g., Python, PowerShell, Java, Perl, etc).

  • Experience with vulnerability management, which includes reviewing cyber security vulnerabilities for risk and relevance and planning mitigations for systems vulnerabilities.

  • Strong communication skills; able to successfully communicate with management personnel, technical personnel and third parties.

  • Able to obtain a security clearance; strongly preferred to hold an active clearance.

Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
