Overview
Are you a talented engineer and want to work on a mission-focused product? Ntrepid is looking for an experienced software engineer to join a team supporting a growing web data collection product. The role will be a key participant in the development, deployment, and scaling of this web data mining and analytics tool. This position requires strong problem-solving skills and a deep interest in learning the details of API’s and web network technologies, standards and protocols.
The product directly supports a customer mission and is a key tool used by end-users to achieve their shot and long-term objectives. You’ll join a small but growing agile team which delivers continuous improvements and enhancements to the product and has direct impact to improve our customer’s mission efforts.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with the software tech lead to suggest and make changes to the system that focus on improving application reliability, lower latency, and increasing scalability
- Work with the product development team to research, develop, and maintain web data mining/collection mechanisms
- Develop and maintain the product’s API and web application components
- Contribute to our automated unit test suite to prevent regressions
- Work with QA to ensure product meets high quality standards and is validated at the software level
- Work with the team to troubleshoot and fix production issues
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a security clearance
- Degree in Computer Science or related field required
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Very strong problem-solving skills, curious, independent
- Experience with developing and using libraries focused on data mining, collection and analysis
- Working knowledge of web application network protocols, especially HTTP/S
- Experience with modern web frameworks and application architectures such as Flask and Rails
- Experience developing systems in either Python or Ruby, and a willingness to learn the other language
- Experience both developing and using REST based web services
- Experience with server-side data visualization/analytics generation a plus
- Experience writing unit tests
- Experience with container technologies (Docker) desirable
