Software Development Engineer II - Audible on Alexa at Audible (Cambridge, MA)

The Audible on Alexa team is looking for a Software Development Engineer who passionately innovates on behalf of customers and demonstrates a high degree of product ownership.

On the Audible on Alexa Team, you will have an opportunity to impact the customer experience and work on cutting-edge products that will be used every day by people you know. You will have an opportunity to work with business partners, other talented software development engineers, QA engineers and UI/UX designers to design, implement, test and launch complex software applications, tools, and systems. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define these product features, drive the system design, and spearhead the best practices that enable this quality product.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Describe and implement REST APIs, ensuring their performance and scalability for our millions of customers
· Partner with other engineers to imagine, design, develop, test, and launch software
· Solve problems and have a large degree of ownership for the delivery of your code and design
· Support the platform and ensure continual up-time
· Provide expertise on system design, implementation, testing and delivery of complex software
· Perform the technical design, implementation, and testing of features
· Participate in internal review of software components and systems
· Collaborate with your team to estimate the size and complexity of the features
· Own system and feature quality throughout the development, testing and deployment phases to ensure quality delivery expectations are met
· Invest in technical growth of self and others in the team
· Work proactively, independently and with minimal technical direction to determine appropriate approaches to SDLC
· Build stable working relationships internally with in the team and with the other Audible teams




BASIC QUALIFICATIONS


· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
· At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience
· OO development skills designing and building large scale applications and/or Services
· Understanding of data structures and algorithms
· Experience with unit testing, code reviews, test automation, and continuous integration

· Excellent understanding and experience with unit testing, integration testing and UI testing
· Knowledge of distributed systems: how theyre built, maintained, and perform
· Recent experience with REST API development, microservices, event-driven architecture, and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
