Our client is currently seeking a Big Data Architect for a 6-month contract-to-hire engagement in Los Angeles, CA.

This job will have the following responsibilities and requirements:•5+ years in development, preferably within a data platform•5+ years in ETL with semi-structured and unstructured data sets•5+ years of experience with several programming languages such as Python, Scala, or Java•Experience with Spark streaming and SQL•Coding skills in the procedural language for at least one database engine a must (PL/SQL, T-SQL etc.)•Experience in micro-service architecture/design•Experience in Test Driven Development (TDD), and/or Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) is a plus•Experience with DAG workflow scheduler systems•Ability to pick up new languages and technologies quickly•Ability to Perform POC’s with Quick Turn Around.•Experience in Writing Architecture Frameworks.•Experience with NoSQL data stores such as Dynamo DB, HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB•Experience in data warehousing with Hive and a scalable store such as Snowflake or Redshift•Working with one or more streaming platforms, such as Apache Kafka, Spark Streaming, Storm, or AWS Kinesis•Experienced in various Clustering architectures•Experience in Kubernetes will be a plus.•Strong leadership skills and ability to communicate with stakeholders of different backgrounds and skill levels•Strong understanding distributed system principles of load balancing, scaling, in-memory vs. disk•Ability to work efficiently with source code management systems like GIT and SVN•Familiar with DevOps - automated deployment tools
