Actuarial Data Scientist at Heritage Search Consultants (Minneapolis, MN)

Company is in search of an Actuarial Data Scientist/Analyst to join its growing Actuarial team. This opportunity will work alongside our team to help assist in data modeling to help with optimizing pricing for the organization.

The ideal candidate will have previous Data Modeling experience with a strong preference toward someone with an Actuarial background. This role will be working in the Property and Casualty Insurance space and previous experience in that world would be very helpful though not required (insurance of any background would be actively considered).

Are you currently an actuarial student (taking actuarial exams from the SOA/CAS) and watching your career move more into a data scientist/analyst role? Have experience with andlike working on modeling projects?  This role could be for you. The company will support the exam process if you want to continue to earn your actuarial credentials though they are OK if youve come to the conclusion that the exams arent for you. Either way youre covered!

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal customers to identify business needs; prioritize requests; develop, test and implement data analytics and predictive modeling.
• Expand understanding and use of data within the organization by presenting analysis, results and recommendations to reduce costs and increase revenue.
• Research and test new modeling and implementation techniques to optimize flow of analytics information to internal consumers.
• Assist in development and implementation of tools and software additions to support BI goals.
• Recommend and implement algorithm deployment and management strategy for predictive models.
• Identify, develop, and implement analytics strategies where precedents and procedures may not exist.
• Work cross functionally to identify internal customer data analytics needs.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

• 2+ years of Data Modeling or similar experience.
• Experience in Property & Casualty Insurance is preferred though any insurance experience will be considered.
• Demonstrated experience working with large relational data sets.
• Working knowledge in at least 1 statistical language (R,Python,SAS) developing and implementing predictive models.
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical information in common language to foster teaching and analytics guidance to internal customers.
• Advanced experience in analytics, data cleaning, and predictive modeling.
• Ability to write queries in SQL.
• Experience with dashboard development (Tableau, SAS, Qlik, etc.) is preferred (not required)
• Experience implementing analytics and predictive models into dashboard or stand-alone solutions is preferred (not required)
• Familiarity with implementing analytics/predictive models into web platforms (Shiny, Django, Java, etc.) is preferred.
