You could be our next Team Lead Java Engineer at FastBridge Learning, based in downtown Minneapolis, MN. Serving as the point of contact and leader of a scrum team consisting of Java Engineers, Database Developers and QA Analysts, you will unleash your superpowers with  Java, Amazon Web Services, and full-stack experience (from browser to database) to develop our flagship web application - Formative Assessment System for Teachers (FAST),  as well as new products. This is a hands-on role without HR responsibilities.

We will keep you moving at a fast pace as you perform the following core essential functions:


  • Lead scrum team consisting of Java and database engineers, and QA analysts

  • Ensure scrum team is working together to set and achieve common sprint goals

  • Advocate for best practices in code quality, design quality, and SDLC processes

  • Coordinate with product team to prioritize and plan sprint and project goals

  • Collaborate with team members, peers and research staff to implement new application features and reports

  • Work hands-on architecting , designing, and developing technology solutions

  • Effectively communicate with other teams and team leads to share knowledge and goals across the project delivery organization

  • Evaluate and introduce new technologies and processes to improve efficiency and software quality

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of the application through analysis, coding of features and tests, writing clear documentation, and problem resolution

  • Collaborate with peers to implement, test, and maintain effective and elegant application logic

  • Team with TechOps to implement solutions to drive application efficiency and performance


What You Bring to the Table:


  • 5+ years of working experience in a professional programming position

  • Previous team leadership experience preferred

  • Extensive experience with server-side Java, and comfortable working full-stack from browser to database

  • Strong knowledge of JSPs, Servlets, Spring, and Hibernate, deployed to Linux

  • Strong knowledge of at least one relational database system (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, DB2)

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully complete multiple complex technical tasks

  • Experience working in an Agile environment

  • Comfortable documenting and communicating technical content to non-technical staff

  • Strong analytical skills, with excellent problem solving abilities

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or a related field; OR equivalent experience
