JOB TITLE: Lead Java Engineer
JOB SUMMARY:
The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for adding new functionality to First Advantage's core product, Enterprise Advantage. Working on this high-volume, security intensive application, he/she will write and test code, address performance concerns, and resolve application issues. This individual will work closely with the development team to identify opportunities to improve the product offering in order to create a better user experience for First Advantage's customers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the technical planning & requirements gathering phases including estimate, develop, test, manage projects, architect and deliver.
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt and work with team members of various experience level.
- Develop software applications and solutions based on documented business and system requirements. Write, edit, and debug code for assigned projects. Understand how applications operate, are structured, and how customers use them.
- Provide assistance to the testing team and support personnel as needed to resolve application issues. Respond promptly and professionally to bug reports.
- Take ownership of the delivery schedule and quality of work. Provide input and estimates about the effort required to build desired functionality.

- Evaluate current applications for stability, scalability, and performance. Design solutions to problematic programming.
- Provide engineering support when building, deploying, configuring, and supporting applications for customers. Participate with the engineering and operations teams to define plans for standardizing, scaling, and enhancing products.
- Mentor more junior engineers on software engineering techniques, processes, and new technologies.
- Update job knowledge by studying current development tools, methodologies, and programming techniques. Participate in educational opportunities and read professional publications.
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field, or equivalent experience
Preferred:
- Oracle Certified Professional, Java Programmer certification
- Oracle Certified Master, Java Developer certification
Required Technical Skills:
- 7 to 10 years of Java software development experience in an high volume, enterprise environment
Highly Preferred:
- Significant experience working with Google Web Toolkit (GWT)
Skills (all required):
- Agile software development methodology
- Systems development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Testing methods and techniques
Preferred knowledge of:
- JBoss application server
- Git revision control system
Skills (all required):
- Effectively meet deadlines and troubleshoot issues while handling multiple priorities and projects
- Able to work independently with limited direction and/or in a team capacity to handle complex technical issues while ensuring timely solutions
- Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative
