IT Operations Manager at Gemalto (Austin, TX)

We are now seeking an IT Operations Manager to join our Government Programs team in Austin, TX. You should have the ability to handle a fast-paced business environment and work collaboratively under tight deadlines, with a range of positions and levels of authority. You should also possess excellent communications skills and organizational talents, be efficient and conscientious, and have reliable work habits.


Our team is responsible for the design and development of highly innovative components and products for our Government Programs (GP) unit, from desktop applications integrating various hardware (biometric devices) to high performance server applications, including issuance of official documents in a very secure environment (PKI, encryption, cryptography).


As an IT Operations Manager for the Government Programs team, you will be responsible for ensuring stable and efficient operations in our multiple data centers. This includes development, maintenance, support and optimization of all functional areas related to our customers operational needs. You will also lead all required activities to resolve software and hardware issues when required. You will work closely with other teams to ensure state of the art infrastructure and design, and get to work with highly skilled people in a fast pace environment.


A week in the life of an IT Operations Manager:


· You will maintain high efficiency of our data center infrastructure, ensuring respect of our SLAs with our customers, by being responsible for maintenance and support of our production systems

· You will ensure compliance to corporate policies and develop and maintain new procedures and policies for your scope, in collaboration with other teams

· You will propose and lead implementation of optimization and best practices for daily operations of the data centers (operations, monitoring, alerting)

· You will create an IT operational roadmap of planned system upgrades/updates and other Maintenance Windows (MW) and work with support team for scheduled MWs / outages

· You will work and serve as liaison with external vendors and subcontractors

· You will run regular checks on network and data security

· You will participate and lead crisis cells when required, and be the liaison for internal support team and customers technical team

· You will be responsible for maintaining and updating system and infrastructure documentations (including disaster recovery)

· You will ensure state of the art security process implementation, to ensure data protection and intrusion detection

· You will provide on call support to operations teams, usually outside of customer working hours (occasionally nights or week-ends)

· You will troubleshoot system and network infrastructure problems when required and assists in Root Cause Analyze document creation

· You will provide investigation, root cause analysis, and problem resolution timely and accurately


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:


· To succeed at this job, you must have experience with windows OS and virtualization (VMWare) on Intel based platforms, Centralized user management (Active Directory, LDAP), Networking (switches, firewall), Enterprise storage solutions, backups (VEEAM preferred), Clustering (MWFC), SAN arrays, SCCM and WSUS, and a good understanding of IT security principles (PKI)

· You must be a U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship, as required by CFIUS

· It would be preferred if you have experience with applications servers (IIS, JBoss, Apache), a basic knowledge of SQL databases

· You must be fluent in English.

· We would like someone to join our team who is a strong team-player with proven experience and a willingness to take ownership of a topic and successfully bring it to completion, with strong leadership, with a pragmatic approach during emergency situations

· You must be well organized with strong attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication skills.

· You must be available off hours, periodically, to support planned maintenance windows and crisis resolution

· You must have a Bachelors Degree in the field of IT.

· We are looking for someone with at least 8 years of experience in the domain of IT management

· You must be able to travel domestically when required to our different datacenters.

· You will have the possibility to grow professionally in the team and in the company
