Professional Summary

The Data Engineer is responsible for managing and performing data migration in company acquisitions or data platform mergers and updates. Primary duties will be analyzing and transforming data from various source systems (databases, spreadsheets, cloud or local hosted applications), validating content and migrating the data into various accounting software and databases.  Other duties include troubleshooting issues related to in-house data, database performance and migrated data. Will be expected to work independently, and manage and support multiple projects simultaneously. The successful candidate will be an energetic self-starter who values integrity, reliability and client service.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Develop scripts and batch jobs to perform data migrations from legacy or cloud-based source systems to WoltersKluwer or Thomson based accounting systems or SQL data based systems.

  • Identify and communicate risks and solutions on data migration projects or how to improve data movement between various platforms.

  • Provide estimates for data migration related tasks for project planning.

  • Create datasets from existing or acquired software applications.

  • Perform ad hoc analysis to identify process or data improvements opportunities.

  • Eventually, perform green field development and data architecture to support reporting, portals, warehouse, tools and analytics for various business performance metrics.

Required Experience or Skills

  • 3+ years of ETL and MS SQL experience.

  • 2+ years of developing SQL scripts, create and maintain database tables for imports or analysis.

  • 1+ years of PowerBI or Tableau.

  • Strong experience with at least one ETL tool such as SSIS, Python, Talend, Informatica, or similar

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Flexible, well-motivated team player, ability to work under pressure with a professional demeanor.

  • Ability to research, document and share solutions from a variety of sources.

  • Accounting, audit or accounting services work experience is a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree from accredited university is required.

  • Specialized licenses or certifications are a plus.

Working Conditions:

    s typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.

    • Regular, physical, and predictable on-site job attendance.

    • Routine same-day travel for work at offices, meetings, and seminars which requires use of a personal vehicle.

    • The position may include some weekday evening and weekend work for projects.

    • Candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
