As we embark on a new journey for stronger cross-functional team collaboration and better efficiency, we are looking to shift and integrate both R&D and IT towards DevOps. We are hiring a DevOps Engineer to join the team. Reporting back to our Head of Infrastructure (in-country manager) based in our Erlangen office, you will be responsible to work closely with our R&D counterpart and have a strong focus on IT infrastructure, networking and operations. You will be responsible in automating and streamlining our technical infrastructure and operational processes.
Main responsibilities are:
- Design, build, evolve, configure and document our cloud-based systems (cloud- and on-premise-based IaaS/PaaS, Microsoft Azure preferred)
- Works with cross-functional teams globally (R&D, IT) to integrate and eliminate barriers between software development, testing and operations
- Build and maintain state-of-the-art tools for deployment, monitoring and operations by developing deployment templates and automation scripts
- Provide 2nd/3rd level technical support and troubleshooting in development, test and product environments
- Ensure global availability, failover and reliability in the platform
- Explore, evaluate and propose new tools and methodologies to evolve the environment
- Establish and drive DevOps lifecycle, automation, orchestration and current best practices
The position will be based in Germany, Erlangen.
The successful candidate will have a strong flair for scripting, development and automation with deep understanding of DevOps (software and infrastructure). You will have minimum 3 years of relevant DevOps experience, with strong knowledge of patterns and practices for cloud-native architecture and systems. You will display strong collaboration skills and work closely with virtual teams globally to drive success.
Technical Requisites:
- Minimum 3-5 years of working experience in software development and/or infrastructure, with at least 3 years focusing on DevOps
- Solid knowledge of patterns and practices for cloud-native architecture and systems
- Expertise managing Linux/Windows servers, with practice experience with Microsoft Azure (preferred), AWS or GCS cloud platforms
- Display good understanding with DevOps and automation toolsets and concepts (e.g. Infrastructure-as-Code)
- Technical hands-on experience with container technologies like Docker/Kubernetes, front- and backend web application frameworks (.NET Core, Node.js, React etc.)
- Experience with networking protocols and security patterns, cloud-native monitoring, management and alerting tools
- Experience managing software configuration systems like Git, TFS, Jenkins etc.
- Ability to combine a variety of open-source technologies and cloud services
- Displays good expertise in programming and/or scripting languages skills
- Familiar with Agile/Scrum environment
