The Opportunity
The Professional Services Implementation Specialist is a technical deployment role within the Professional Services organization.
The Implementation Specialist will be responsible for getting Venafi products rapidly and effectively installed and deployed in customer environments. This position requires regular participation in developing, leading, and presenting technical information to customers as part of the implementation. Successful deployments include assisting customers connect Venafi products to a myriad of technologies, including user directories, databases, HSMs, and the systems on which encryption certificates and keys are managed (e.g. F5, NetScaler, IIS, Apache, etc.). The Implementation Specialist will work with Venafi staff, partners, industry experts, and customers to ensure solutions are effectively deployed, problems are addressed, and customers are successful. This position offers an individual the opportunity to become a leader in the emerging space of Machine Identity Protection while building technical knowledge about a wide variety of industry technologies.
This is a remote position that will require approximately 20% travel to Venafi headquarters or customer sites.
Location is flexible; preference for major US city for ease of travel and proximity to likely customer base.
Key Result Areas
  • Lead the installation, deployment, and configuration of Venafi products in customer environments.
  • Present architecture and implementation webcasts on the Venafi product.
  • Effectively document system design recommendations and best-practices.
  • Work closely with customers, sales, Venafi project managers, and architects to ensure solutions meet customers' needs, keeping all parties up to date on progress and any issues that are encountered.
  • Work closely with Venafi customer support and customers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, especially technical staff.
  • Work with Venafi Product Management to ensure through feedback that Venafi products are increasingly easier to use and deploy for customers.

Minimum Skills And Experience Required
  • A solid understanding of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) including technology, standards, and implementations.
  • An understanding of SSH, especially the configuration and use of SSH keys for authentication.
  • IT system administration experience (systems management, networks, firewalls) in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with user directory technologies for authentication (e.g., LDAP, Active Directory).
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Server configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting.
  • Direct experience with Unix and Linux configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience writing scripts for system automation (PowerShell, Python, Linux shell, etc.)
  • Experience with technologies that heavily use TLS/SSL encryption (e.g. F5, Netscaler, IIS, Apache, WebLogic, WebSphere, etc.) desirable.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with server virtualization technologies (VMWare, HyperV)
  • Database administration (MSSQL) experience a plus.
  • Experience managing, configuring, or supporting a PKI certificate authority (especially Microsoft ADCS) is desirable.
  • A working understanding of ITIL processes and systems in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience and comfort working with sales, customers, and client end-user groups in high-pressure situations.
  • Able to prioritize and effectively manage several ongoing projects simultaneously.
  • The ability to identify potential issues early and escalate to management as appropriate.
  • Sense of urgency, self-managed, and goal-oriented attitude.
  • Proven technical troubleshooting ability.
  • Patience and listening skills.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communications skills.
  • Willingness to travel 20% within US and Canada; International travel a possibility.

What Sets You Apart
  • 5+ years of experience working with enterprise IT environments in a system administrator or security operations role.
  • At least 1 year of experience deploying software within an enterprise environment, preferably for a software product company.
  • Previous experience in a consultative or Professional Services role a plus.
  • Experience using REST APIs through scripts or developed applications a plus.
  • Industry recognized security certifications (CISSP, GIAC, etc.) a plus.
