Senior Application Engineer (Travel Products) at Rakuten (Setagaya, Japan)

Rakuten Travel (http://bit.ly/2OIBOzv) is looking for an experienced Java developer to help us launch new products and expand existing ones.

Responsibilities:

Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices

Create site layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS practices

Integrate data from various back-end services and databases

Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs

Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities

Have a major impact day to day on the development of our product

Minimum Qualifications:

At least seven years of building Java applications, preferably backend services with APIs.

Completing programming using languages and software products; designing and conducting tests.

Strong experience developing web services (using XML and JSON- Spring MVC/REST, SOAP,  a plus.) Troubleshooting development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.

Integrates applications by designing database architecture and server scripting; studying and establishing connectivity with network systems, search engines, and information servers.

Supports users by developing documentation and assistance tools.

Supports and develops web application developers by providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working on a distributed team

Experience with various database technologies, such as Oracle, MongoDB, or Redis
