Senior Software Engineer, Control Platform at Quantcast (San Francisco, CA)

At Quantcast, we use technology to help brands and publishers understand, reach and influence the constantly-changing behaviors of consumers. In the RTB Platforms group we respond to millions of realtime requests each second. If you’re interested in helping us grow these critical, fast, large scale distributed systems then we’d like to meet. Working side-by-side with other smart engineers and modeling scientists you will build and operate real time prediction and control systems that power all our advertising products at scale. Your team will invest in your development and you will help grow other engineers.


Your typical work day includes:



  • Build and develop control systems listening to and controlling thousands of bidding machines

  • Build and develop Quantcast’s control system and optimization framework

  • Research and propose new projects in reinforcement learning and AI

  • Leading design review and brainstorming sessions

  • Mentoring other engineers

  • Improving deployment, testing, monitoring and operational tools and processes

  • Talking to customers and users, discovering their pain points and helping plan for building their next feature requirements

  • Setting up and running experiments to improve stability and bidding performance across the stack


You have:



  • 5+ years experience creating applications in Python, C++, Java or similar language(s)

  • Experience delivering improvements in scale, runtime, cost, features or reliability under little supervision

  • Excellent skills in system and software design, algorithms, data structures and software engineering

  • Degree in a topic related to Computer Science, or equivalent experience

  • Bonus if you have experience building distributed systems in AWS and using tools such as Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, or Spinnaker

  • Bonus if you have experience working with control systems
