Summary:
Responsible for assisting with the design, implementation and operational support of the Comcast's Domain Name System (DNS) and Network Time Protocol (NTP) infrastructure. Provides technical advice and support for real time analysis, design, testing, and operations of DNS in DevOps environment. Acts as a DNS Subject Matter Expert. Acts as a cross-functional liaison to other teams.
Responsibilities:
- Provides engineering and operational support for Domain Name System (DNS) infrastructure and technologies.
- Provides technical leadership and direction as a primary technical resource.
- Provides technical guidance to other operations/engineering groups on current and future technology.
- Analyzes DNS infrastructure design and traffic volume for network optimization.
- Follows engineering design life cycle with proper documentation ensuring that all detailed designs adhere to network standards.
- Develops test and acceptance criteria for DNS infrastructure.
- Drives the continuous improvement of deployed systems by consistently looking for ways to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
- Strong CentOS/RHEL administration skills
- Strong system engineering skills, particularly with automated configuration management (SaltStack/Ansible)
- Solid software development skills, with a focus on programming/automation. Python is generally preferred, but Perl, Ruby and Go are also suitable.
- Demonstrates an ability to learn and apply new technology throughout their career
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, as necessary.

- Partners with engineering project manager to provide consultative direction and develops long term objectives and plans to determine resources, technology and course of action to achieve results.
- Works with other members of cross-functional teams, joint ventures,third party vendors and Company's Product Managers and Marketing teams to deliver quality products, in a timely fashion, that meet defined requirements. Establishes and maintains working relationships within NE&TO, Product Development teams, joint ventures, vendors and contractors.
