Org. Setting and Reporting


This position is located in the Software Products for Member States Unit (SPMS), Enterprise Application Center – Vienna (EAC-V), within the Division for Management (DM) of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the team leader (Desktop Solutions/Software Solutions) and overall guidance of the Chief of the Software Products for Member States Unit. The incumbent will participate in the development, implementation and support of sustainable and affordable IT solutions to be deployed in key government institutions in Member States.


Responsibilities


The Information Systems Assistant will perform the following specific duties:•Develop, test and debug windows applications and web applications using Microsoft .NET technologies (ASP.NET MVC, WPF, and Windows Forms); •Develop, test and debug web applications using technologies such as: HTML, JavaScript, ORM, SQL, Angular JS and other frameworks;•Independently liaise with users in order to get/analyse requirements;•Prepare technical and user documentation for deployed computer application systems, as well as training materials, and conduct technical presentations using UNODC standard tools: Lotus Notes, Visio and MS Office products;•Maintain functional specifications for computer application systems, programs and procedures developed and/or modified;•Provide support for deployed computer application systems including version management, deployment and data recovery;•Perform any other work related duties as required.

Education


High School Diploma or equivalent is required, with certification in C#.NET technologies being an asset.

Work Experience


A minimum of 7 years of relevant technical experience in systems analysis, development and programming using Microsoft .NET/C#, ASP.NET and/or ASP.NET MVC, coupled with JavaScript, HTML and jQuery is required. Experience with SQL, Microsoft SQL Server and designing relational databases is required. Experience in Windows services as well as in test driven development is required. Experience in working with Windows forms development, Windows WPF is desirable. Experience working in a large multi-cultural, international, non-profit organization is desirable.


Languages


English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is desirable.

Assessment


Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise and a competency-based interview.
