Full-Stack Web Developer @ rapidly-growing online education platform at Designlab (New York, NY)

Designlab is looking for a talented full-stack developer to help us improve and expand our rapidly-growing online education platform. We're a nimble, product-driven team focused on building the best experience in the world for creative skills training, and thousands of students across the globe have already advanced their skills and changed careers with our help. Our mission is to empower creators to do the work they love, and this extends to our internal philosophy of how we work. We want to help you do the best work of your career.

Our ideal candidate is curious, entrepreneurial, and product-minded; has experience building web applications from scratch; and can walk us through the code for at least one of their projects to demonstrate their skills. Our tech stack primarily consists of Python/Django on the back-end and AngularJS on the front-end, and while experience with these technologies is preferred, we would also consider candidates who have experience working with other web frameworks.

You'll be exposed to a wide range of work with us, including but not limited to: customer-facing features to support our global student & mentor base; tools to augment the superpowers of our internal team; workflows to improve payments, dev ops, and other critical processes; and growth-related experiments.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with our co-founder/CTO to augment our software development efforts.

  • Ship early and often — add exciting new features and investigate/fix critical bugs in the web application that powers our popular online courses.

  • Improve the codebase by constantly looking for places to make things faster, cleaner, clearer.

Skills/Experience

  • Experience building web applications from scratch (personal or professional).

  • Experience with Python, preferably in the context of a web framework (Django, Flask).

  • Experience with HTML/CSS/Javascript.

  • Experience with a Javascript framework like AngularJS or ReactJS would be great, but is not necessary.

Perks

  • Competitive salary and equity compensation

  • Work remotely and/or from co-working spaces in NYC

  • Flexible hours (you set your own schedule)

  • Generous paid vacation policy

  • Health & dental benefits

  • Choose your own Mac setup

  • Work with a talented, mission-driven team on a product that’s innovating in the online education space with thousands of paying customers around the world
