Sr. UI/UX Engineer for World-Changing NGO in CDMX at Generation (Ciudad de México, Mexico)

What you'll do:



  • Work with a cutting edge tech stack along with first class testing, deployment and tooling (e.g., React, GraphQL, Jest, Docker, CircleCI, Elastic Beanstalk, S3, Cloudfront, etc.)

  • Use your mastery of user-experience and software engineering to create amazing, maintainable apps, mostly in Javascript

  • Tech-Lead your squad of developers, via coaching, mentoring, and code-review

  • Style your apps with scalable, beautiful CSS (or Javascript “inline” style)

  • Work on the API services that drive your apps (although we’ll happily teach you if you haven’t done this before)

  • Test your code rigorously with unit-testing and automated functional testing. (If your current team doesn’t do this, we’ll teach you!)

  • Exercise your creativity by designing, building, and deploying a product used by users in 11 countries on 4 continents (and growing fast)

  • Learn from experienced engineers who have worked at big tech companies, and at McKinsey's digital consulting practice (McKinsey is the main sponsor of Generation, helping us to grow fast and well)

To be successful you'll need:



  • At least three years of experience solving interesting technical problems and building a complex software product

  • *Either* a university education in software development, or equivalent work experience

  • Plenty of expertise in programming in Javascript, Android or iOS

  • If you’re Javascript-savvy, you should have knowledge of its advanced features, and preferably lots of hands-on time with ES6/ES2015 and newer

  • Experience with single page web apps (especially React, but Angular is also cool)

  • Solid computer science fundamentals (e.g., data structures, time complexity analysis)

  • A passion for applying best practices in software engineering

  • Proven record of working and/leading in a collaborative and fast-paced team environment (e.g., Agile)

  • Take ownership of solution and drive it from design to production, implementing best practices in design, architecture, security, code quality, and workflows

  • Proficient in English (reading and speaking), so you can work with our international team!

  • Comfortable working with a multi-functional team of fellow engineers, product owners, designers and project managers

  • Work closely with junior colleagues and mentor them
