Our Enterprise Customer Intelligence team is building the next generation of real-time, data-driven services that power machine-learning capabilities to our digital products. These services serve insights that drive key decision making at Capital One. We are looking for software engineers who are strong with fundamentals and have a proven curiosity to explore and tinker with new technology. The team is still in growth mode as we build out the foundational technology and features. Responsibilities:  



  • Recruit, manage, and retain senior engineers and people managers 

  • Build an inspiring technology culture where engineers proudly do their best work every day 

  • Raise the bar for technical excellence and people management practices 

  • Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to construct a product delivery strategy, reasonable roadmaps, and timelines 

  • Estimate level of effort to develop code to meet acceptance criteria  

  • Crisply communicate our strategy, status, and initiatives with partners and engineers and strongly influence positive key outcomes 

  • Navigate the organization as necessary to unblock the team and ensure timely delivery 

  • Proactively identifies, tackles, and resolves uncertainty by presenting and implementing solutions 


Basic Qualifications: 



  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience 

  • At least 10 years of application development experience 

  • At least 5 years of experience with JVM languages 

  • At least 5 years of experience with writing software leveraging automated testing and TDD practices 

  • At least 5 years of experience with version control systems 

  • At least 4 years of experience with people management 

  • At least 2 years of experience managing people managers 


Preferred Qualifications: 



  • At least 4 years of experience having end-to-end technical ownership over projects 

  • At least 3 years of experience working with scalable infrastructure over public or private cloud 

  • Still comfortable writing code 

  • Excellent written and oral communication 

  • Comfortable navigating large organizations to ensure timely delivery of projects 

  • Comfortable working independently and owning difficult decisions   

  • Exposure to Java performance tuning and monitoring 

  • Experience working with Spring frameworks Experience working with a functional programming language like Scala 

  • Experience in scripting languages (python, perl, or ruby) 

  • Experience working with Docker 

  • Experience with Ansible / Terraform 

  • Experience with Amazon web services (AWS) Experience working with CICD pipeline (CircleCI, Jenkins, or equivalent) 

  • Experience in publish/subscribe queuing systems (kafka, MQ-Series, SQS, or equivalent) 

  • Experience with Micro services architecture (design and implementation) 

  • Open source contributions
