By integrating technologies, hardware, and software applications, Shop Advise helps turn data into meaningful and actionable insights, enabling retailers to make data-driven decisions that improve visibility and profitability.  

StoreAdvise is looking for a Sr. Back-end Software Engineer to focus on rapid ideation, prototyping and development of smart device back-end applications, which will ultimately integrate with our highly scalable and portable back end platform.  

This position will be responsible for evaluating and creating cutting edge software and distributed computing infrastructure to bring new connected functionality and interfaces to the market. The role will include architecture and algorithm design to create connected services and applications.

 Moreover, the position will evolve implementations and interfaces to enable future services and applications, developing connectivity requirements and specifications that will influence future production systems.

Principle Responsibilities Include:

  • Investigate and develop technical concepts and solutions for a new generation of services, linking services (in-house and third party) to the cloud
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining network services and distributed systems, with attention to application programming interfaces as well as micro-service and server less architectures
  • Out-of-the-box thinking with the ability to add to the existing infrastructure as well as create new infotainment experiences, features and services
  • The creation and maintaining CI/CD approaches
  • Definition and deployment of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligent architectures

Qualified Candidates Must Possess:

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer software or related field
  • 5 + years of experience with server-side programming/technologies and software architecture
  • Experience with common backend frameworks and associated software design paradigms
  • Experience with mobile/web development and deployment pipelines (Vagrant, Puppet, etc.) and other tools
  • Experience with Java, JavaScript, Python programming languages
  • Experience with optimal integration of internal/proprietary, third party, and open source technologies to solve complex problems in a customer-centric manner
  •  Familiar with working on a multidisciplinary team
  • Familiar with quick code iterations, failing quickly and retrying
  • Proficiency in Cloud, Application and API development
  • Familiarity with revision control and development tools (Git, Bitbucket, Bugzilla, Jira, Confluence etc.)
  • Familiar with the design & analysis of computer algorithms and data structures
  • Familiar with development and deployment in cloud environments such as IBM Bluemix, Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining API services (via REST, SOAP)
  • Advanced knowledge of NoSQL and cloud databases, networking and distributed systems
  • Experience in implementing containerized services, micro-services and/or sever less architectures in highly modular / scalable deployments
  • Experience managing streaming and heavyweight data in an efficient and scalable way
  • Experience in a collaborative and interdisciplinary build/deploy environment
