Homesnap, the top-rated real estate app, seeks am AWS SysOps Engineer to join the Homesnap development team based in Bethesda, MD. We need an experienced and detail- oriented AWS Solutions Architect with a passion for the cloud, a stong background in hardware, and a knack for making sure the tires don’t fall off. We need help to expand and maintain our growing rack of servers, switches, and thingamajigs (both actual and virtual) and you're going to lead the charge!
If you're an experienced SysOps Wizard, DevOps Ninja, and Cloud Infrastructure Guru who lives for the thrill of hot swapping a drive, but also enjoy quietly lurking in the background watching for trouble, please read on. As a wearer-of-all-the-hats, you'll be charged with helping us take our infrastructure from co-lo to cloud. Having a strong understanding of migration, cloud infrastructure, and virtual systems support will be integral to your success in this role. Youll also be tasked with the "little stuff" that keeps Homesnap buzzing.
As an integral member of our world-class development team, you'll help us build and maintain our employee computers, co-located servers, AWS EC2 instances, and networks, as well as administer and maintain our Active Directory domain, SQL Server instances, and much more.
Core responsibilities
- Setup new employee hardware and troubleshoot various issues as needed
- Migration of SQL Server to AWS cloud
- Create and maintain processes to allow Homesnap to be proactive in the tracking of issues and their resolution
- Build, monitor and maintain Windows, CentOS, and AWS EC2 servers
- Configure and monitor SQL Server maintenance, backups, and replication
- Proactively identify new hardware requirements or potential bottlenecks
Desired Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of SysOps/DevOps experience
- Proficient with server/consumer hardware, networking, and monitoring
- Experience with AWS, primarily EC2 instances
- Experience in cloud migration
- Working knowledge of one or more scripting languages
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with team members
- Knowledge of SQL Server, HAProxy, RabbitMQ, and/or Redis a plus
