We are looking for bright, curious minds to join our navigation research & innovation team in Amsterdam, Berlin, and ód. We research future directions, develop innovative prototypes, and conduct studies, all to provide evidence-based decision support for TomTom and its customers. · Define and follow a research agenda so that you have all the answers before others know the question.
· Demonstrate your findings through convincing prototypes.
· Work with leading experts in navigation-related areas on shaping the future of TomTom’s navigation products, in collaboration with internal and external partners.
· Constantly grow, led by your curiosity to grab the many development opportunities at TomTom and stay up to speed with the latest tools and techniques in an ever-changing technological landscape.
What we expect from you
A great Research Engineer at TomTom can’t be defined. There is no one way to go about the work, and everyone is different. But to be successful in this role, this is the kind of profile we have in mind:
· Experience in conducting research, for example demonstrated through a PhD.
· Excellent knowledge of C++ and Agile software development.
· Deep knowledge of (at least one) research areas that are relevant for TomTom’s future developments, including Data Science, Mobility as a Service, Traffic Control, Cloud Services, Algorithm Engineering, Smart Cities, Internet of Things, Automotive Software, and a desire to master more.
· Desire to work in an interdisciplinary team, contributing with your unique skills to the joint success.
· Willingness to travel to other TomTom offices, research partner locations, and events, mostly within Europe.
· Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and in writing. Proficiency in the local language (Dutch, German, or Polish) is a plus.
