We are building a brand new core engineering team in our second largest office: Guadalajara. You will be the master mind behind this team. You will design, code and build architectures from the ground up to help Ooyala expand its Analytics and Big Data platforms. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will also help this team grow, hire and mentor other engineers and have fun while doing so.
What you will do:
- Define and build large-scale, distributed platform services
- Learn and become a master of technologies such as Hadoop and Cassandra
- Work directly with the Engineering team in Silicon Valley making sure projects goals are met
- Build architectures for large scale systems. Yes, this means a lot of hands-on coding
Requirements:
- BS/MS or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent
- Battle scars from building reliable web-scale systems
- Passion for building products used by hundreds of millions worldwide
- 6+ years of experience building large scale high performance distributed systems
- Ability to build robust and HA systems fast with a high degree of autonomy
- Excellent programming skills in Scala and/or Java. Go is a plus.
- Experience with BigData systems like Hadoop, Cassandra, Storm, Spark and Kafka is a strong plus
- Thinking out of the box and interest to learn & teach
- Good communication & great team player
- Fluent in English
