Position Summary
Anivive is changing the landscape of the Veterinary Pharmaceutical Industry through proprietary software that discovers new companion animal pharmaceuticals.
Anivive is looking for someone to fill the role of ‘Java Software Developer’, which is a hands-on position which will mainly be involved in developing and expanding our existing data import/manipulation processes. The ideal candidate is a generalist who enjoys challenge and variety.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement high-volume, scalable, and fault tolerant Java based enterprise services.
- Design, implement and test highly scalable, multi-tier, distributed back-end server systems.
- Write and maintain clean, well-written Java code and documentation conforming to standards
- Troubleshoot, identify and resolve performance problems.
- Collaborate with peers on best practices and promote knowledge sharing.
- Release early, release often (we love continuous integration).
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Java 8+ Master (generics, reflection, lambda, streams)
- Minimum of 3 years of Java experience
- Understanding of Agile software development, GIT workflow and version control
- Experience working with APIs/web-scraping
- Experience restructuring large semi-structured datasets
- Solid understanding of the full web technology stack (e.g. HTTP, cookies, REST)
- Solid understanding of data modeling best practices
- Fluent in English
- Able to work onsite in Long Beach, CA
Bonus
- Strong Data Modeling skills, preferably using both Relational (MySQL) and NoSQL(Neo4j,ElasticSearch) databases
- Experience with queues(Kafka)
- Understanding of containerized architecture (docker/kubernetes)
- Experience with XML technologies such as XSL, XSLT and parsing technologies like SAX, DOM
- Experience with Kotlin
