Job description



As Business Intelligence Engineers, we are part of the Global Engineering division and focus on developing scalable and re-usable data processing and analysis components and solutions at enterprise scale.



In that position, you’ll be looked after by Michael, who is a passionate techie with a strong business intelligence background and a good track record in building actionable data-driven solutions and enterprise scale data processing platforms.




Your specific tasks will include:



  • Design, prototype and implement large scale data processing and analysis solutions

  • Create data models that are optimized for performance in our Oracle 12c In-Memory environment

  • Create solutions for loading, aggregating and distributing the data within our computing platform

  • Design and Implement web services, batch applications and highly interactive web frontends

  • Engineer at scale using service-oriented architecture and containerized applications especially in cloud service environments (i.e. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)

  • Create and execute unit tests and integration tests based on standardized frameworks

  • Integrate your solutions into the continuous delivery process

  • Analyze and eliminate performance bottlenecks in our processing applications

  • Take care of software quality and standards in software engineering

  • Plan and conduct technology selection and proof of concepts





We look for a profile with complementary skills, such as:



  • Expert development skills in the development of service oriented applications and Web APIs (HTTP / REST / HATEOAS) using Java EE and / or Spring Framework, additional development skills in C# is a competitive advantage

  • Expert BI / data modeling and database development skills (Oracle 12c, PL/SQL)

  • Solid Background in developing web applications and (ideally Single Page Applications based on Angular)

  • Experience in handling large amounts of data (ideally previous experience with Spark/ Hadoop and ETL Tools)

  • Excellent analysis and problem solving skills

  • Hands-on experience with regard to code performance optimization and scalability (e.g., parallelization)

  • Solid understanding of service-oriented architectures (e.g. microservices) & distributed systems, cloud computing environments and tooling (AWS, Azure)

  • Proven practice in developing unit and integration tests (TDD, Junit, Mockito, Spock, SoapUI)

  • Knowledge in any of those areas is a plus (Atlassian Tool Stack, UML + Enterprise Architect; BDD)

  • Used to work in agile Scrum teams, ideally experienced with SAFe
