The Desktop Virtualization Engineer will contribute to the definition of desktop virtualization standards & strategy, as well as provide technical leadership & support for the evaluation, planning, design, and implementation of a VDI solution. The Engineer will also assist with the oversight & transition of operational support for the VDI environment.
Responsibilities:
- Define the business case & standard for the desktop virtualization technology stack, from the infrastructure platform through the applications & user layers
- Provide direct technical support for the planning, design, and implementation of releases/upgrades/changes to VDI systems, as well as the range of ancillary products & productivity tools which support the testing and operation of said systems
- Work with other stakeholder Information Technology groups as VDI standards, strategy & operational support plans are being developed, to ensure the resultant solution is secure, supportable, capable of being integrated with existing related applications & compliant with existing internal standards where necessary
- Collaborate with the Client Services & Operations support teams on the development & implementation of automated processes for virtual desktop build/imaging process automation
- Develop, implement, measure & report on KPIs for the VDI technology stack
- Develop business continuity solutions for the VDI environment
- Provide management & peers with clear, concise communications regarding the configuration & status of the VDI technology stack
- Stay abreast of emerging VDI technologies & services within the industry marketplace
- Partner with the Business Engagement group in ongoing identification of customer requirements/use-cases for the VDI service offering
- Bachelor's Degree in technology-related field
- Minimum 5 years' experience with virtualization technologies/products (ex. Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop, VMware Horizon)
- Experience with Windows/Mac desktop administration, including desktop configuration management software packages (ex. SCCM, JAMF)
- Experience with Active Directory/Identity Management solutions
- Experience with AWS, Azure and/or Google Cloud platforms
- Candidate must be service delivery-focused & able to collaborate effectively with customers/colleagues/peers
- Virtualization and/or security certifications
- Familiarity with Agile project management philosophy & methods
