OVERVIEW:
MapD is seeking a DevOps Engineer to add to its Backend Engineering team. As a DevOps Engineer, you will work closely with the DevOps team to maintain, optimize, develop, and secure the development and demo infrastructures. You should have solid automation, security, and devops skills to bring to the table, as well as proven experience learning and implementing new technologies. This is critical to your success in this position. You must have previous proven experience working on a public cloud platform (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.). Key to this role is being self-motivated and a self-starter, as well as a strong passion for system improvement and optimization.

Our office is located in downtown San Francisco, and this position will initially report to the Backend Engineering Team Lead. This is an individual contributor role and will not manage other people. This position is located in downtown San Francisco or our South Bay satellite office. Local candidates only, no remote candidates, please.
Responsibilities:
- Build management and automation for MapD’s two main products: Core (backend engine) and Immerse (frontend visualization tool)
- Manage infrastructure of GPU servers, both in-house and hosted
- Support the MapD Saas cloud initiative
Qualifications:
- BS or higher degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum 3 years professional work experience doing relevant DevOps work
- Previous experience with common Linux distributions (Centos, Ubuntu, Redhat, etc.)
- Strong interest and proven aptitude for exploring and implementing new technologies is critical
- Previous experience working with a variety of the following technologies:
- Continuous Integration tools - Travis, Jenkins
- Configuration Management - SaltStack, Ansible
- Scripting Languages - Bash, Python
- Containers - Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos
- Security & Networks - OpenVPN, FreeIPA, LDAP, Kerberos, pfSense
- Cloud providers - AWS, Azure, GCP
- Monitoring - Graylog, Prometheus
- Hardware - Experience with infrastructure using CUDA a bonus
