About the role
As a Technical Lead you’ll join a team to solve our most complex problems across performance, reliability and usability goals. Specifically tackling work across the live trading and portfolio management domains.
You’ll solve problems at incredible complexity as our financial markets products process over 10K transactions per second with 2 million+ users globally. This is a hands-on role that focuses on building and enhancing our engineering capabilities, improving technical practices and helping shape the future of our approaches, platforms and frameworks.
Duties include: -
- Support multiple technology teams through advice, coaching, leadership and enablement
- Identify opportunities delivering the company’s engineering capabilities, including identification of opportunities for innovation
- Play a key role in migrating our products to the web, working with a variety of languages and libraries including Python, Javascript, React, Typescript, C++ etc.
- Tools include JIRA, Bitbucket, SonarQube, Artifactory etc
- Contribute to a huge initiative to move to AWS as we introduce DevOps practices
- Identify technology trends and evolving consumer behaviours
- Collaborate with other teams to evaluate and identify appropriate technology platforms for our products.
- Contribute to the implementation of our Continuous Delivery pipeline using TeamCity
- Take a leadership role in the development of an enterprise-wide information security plan
- Review current development frameworks and help establish initial architecture for new products
- Work closely with Technical Leads in other areas to solve new, complex problems across a range of products
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies
- Help ensure that technology standards and approaches are consistent and maintained
- Communicate the technology strategy to other teams within IRESS
- Finding better ways of doing things

About You
- Experience in a similar role as a Senior Software Engineer, Senior Developer, Team Lead, Software Architect etc
- Strong knowledge of web technology, any combination of Python, Java, Ruby, Javascript, React, Typescript etc
- Expert knowledge of technical architecture, software engineering and infrastructure
- Strong verbal and written communications skills and able to translate complex technical subjects for a diverse audience and all levels of management
- Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and collaborate with other functional leaders to provide positive outcomes
- Technical aptitude to probe, assess and understand their technology environment
