Software Developer Big Data / Cloud at Macquarie Group (Sydney, Australia)

Help our team build and support mission critical applications used by a global audience.


As a skilled software developer, you will join our Finance, Risk and Operations group to contribute to our global technology delivery team. Within this team, you will take part in current and future projects including replacing core payments infrastructure and interfaces, implementing a Big Data eco-system, Public/Private/Hybrid cloud migration, as well as automation, automation and more automation.


You’ll bring with you, a tertiary education in Technology, Computer Science or Software Engineering, and have a genuine passion for solving IT and business problems within complex working environments. In addition, you will be a flexible and resourceful in design and development phases, and have a working knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase) and modern web development techniques and technologies. Your prior experience with financial systems is also a plus, as is your experience with Agile methodologies and practices. Ideally, you will also be proficient in any of the following:



  • 3-5 years’ experience with Java, Java Script, Python, .Net, C++ or other programming language as part of an intern or graduate program

  • knowledge of Web, RPC and RESTful services

  • hands on experience working in with Big Data ecosystem (Hadoop, Impala, Elastic Search, NoSQL, HBase/Cassandra) to derive insights/analytics from Big Data

  • Unix/Linux/Docker/Containers configuration, scripting

  • experience in AWS or other cloud-based technologies will be a big plus

  • test Automation systems/frameworks.
