Interested in using new tech? Innovative Edinburgh DevOps opportunities await at Lloyds Banking Group (Edinburgh, UK)

Lloyds Banking Group is the largest provider of digital banking products in the UK, with over 11 million active online customers and nearly 6 million active mobile banking customers. With more than 2.7 million customers accessing digital banking every day, we have placed Digital banking at the heart of our strategy to become the best bank for customers.

Our teams in Group Digital are passionate about creating new services for our customers that bring the latest online products to market. Our culture brings together smart, talented, people from diverse backgrounds who enjoy a collaborative and innovative environment that supports flexible and agile working.

As a DevOps practitioner in Platform Engineering in one of our cross-disciplinary teams, Investments & Retirement - we have a significant opportunity to lead in Financial Planning & Products which will require us to be innovative and use new tech.

You'll work in a highly collaborative way to drive efforts to build, support and improve our tools for continuous integration, automated testing and release management. We expect that you demonstrate and apply exemplary engineering practices to increase agility, improve quality and help reduce downtime in all our solutions.

As DevOps is not a “thing you do” but a cultural change more than anything, you’re also expected to drive this change and ensure that we embed agile and DevOps principles in everything we do.

We want to see placement of these skills in context – why they matter, what value they bring, how to get the most from them, how to evolve them and spread them further within the organisation.

Key Accountabilities:

As a DevOps Engineer you will automate, automate, and automate – delivering a modern, lean approach to “smoothing the path” our software takes from a developer’s workstation, through dev and test cycles, toward production.

As part of a wider DevOps community you will also help drive continuous improvements of our tooling and build pipelines in a relentless mission to speed up feedback loops, shift testing left and shorten delivery release cycles.

You will ensure that build and release jobs are written in a way which is consistent with - and exploits where possible - the collective frameworks, patterns and practices that exist across the wider DevOps community.

It is also very important to understand and apply industry best practices, foster knowledge sharing to provide solutions for complex business problems where no precedent may exist, and ensure implementation of solutions where appropriate.

For the more experienced DevOps Engineer, you maybe expected to mentor and develop more junior DevOps engineers, providing clear and constructive feedback and creating opportunities for learning and growth.
