A Cloud Guru is the world's leading provider of online IT education. We focus on providing high-quality, affordable and engaging on-demand video courses to hundreds of thousands of professionals. We help our students learn new skills, gain valuable industry certifications, and excel in their careers.

We're now looking for a full-time Technical Editor / QA to join the content team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable reviewing technical content in the area of cloud computing, providing feedback, and working with instructors and students. We produce highly curated video courses watched by hundreds of thousands of professionals. You are going to be an important part of ensuring we maintain high-quality, technically accurate and engaging content.

What we are looking for

Your mission as a Technical Editor will be to own and ensure the technical quality of the content presented to our customers. We are looking for someone that will be both hands-on in reviewing content and collaborating with lecturers and all levels of support staff to identify and remedy quality issues. This is a new role that will draw on your attention to detail, technical IT skills, and professional QA skills. This is a unique opportunity to participate in a growing company and create long-term solutions.

The Product

The A Cloud Guru platform is a cutting-edge e-learning system. We deliver training courses containing video lessons, quizzes and a practice exam simulator to students around the world. This year we aim to cement our place as the leading provider of cloud training in the B2C space while rapidly growing our B2B product. A Technical Editor that can help our team plan and execute this vision will be critical to our success.

This is an important role with high expectations and room to grow. You are going to be expected to do the following:

  • Spend the majority of your time (>50%) reviewing courses, both pre- and post-release, ensuring that the content is functional, free of gross editing errors, and has all the necessary content to allow the material to be learned and the labs to be completed.

  • Work closely with the content team, support teams, and the moderators to identify issues, trends and possible treatments.

  • Use your existing QA experience to plan and implement lightweight QA processes to improve quality and reduce workload on lecturers.

  • Use your insights to assist lecturers in avoiding frequently observed issues.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement by using tooling to track and report on QA trends.

  • Most importantly you need to be willing to experiment, fail, learn and try again!

To perform this role, we need you to have the following skills:

  • Existing QA experience working in an agile environment.

  • Existing broad IT background to allow you to follow courses, complete labs, and discuss teaching points with lecturers

  • A background cloud computing is essential - You get extra brownie points if you have certification in AWS, Azure or GCP.

  • An eye for typos and grammatical mistakes.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to analyse data and identify trends or opportunities for improvement in practices.

If that all sounds a bit daunting, don't let it stop you from applying. As a training provider, we strongly believe in giving people the opportunity to learn – in fact, we encourage it!

We know that supporting you and investing in your development so that you can be an effective part of our team… well it’s just good business sense!

Working with us

Our people matter to us. We know everyone has family and friends and for that reason our employees receive 5 weeks of leave each year. We understand that time away from work is important and we know well-rested and well-rounded people make better decisions...and ultimately are more productive when at work!

We pay commensurate with experience and we make sure you're looked after.

Our crew

Our team is spread across the globe - mainly the US and Australia. Our engineers, designers and content team work together out of our office in Melbourne, Australia.

For this position we will need you to join our team in our office on Queen Street in Melbourne. We prefer hands-on collaboration so this position is not available for remote workers. Unfortunately we're unable to sponsor people into Australia at this time.

We are a fast-growing team with big ambitions. We need people who can help us build a solid foundation for the future. If you want to make a difference in a fast-growing team, now is the time to join.
