Job Summary:
This individual will interact with executive business partners and technical product owners to understand the business goals and priorities. The individual will participate in planning, definition, and high-level design of the solution for cross domain initiatives. The solutions architect will also own the creation and ongoing updates to the domain level target functional architecture and will work with architects from across the CEE Domain and the SE Architecture Guild to ensure incremental progress towards the end state target.
Major Duties:
- Works directly with business leads, product owners, program managers and technical teams to understand challenges and derive complete and comprehensive solutions.
- Actively participate in the quarterly planning process by ensuring accurate solutions are defined for domain MVPs
- Develop solutions that are well engineered, flexible, resilient, operable, maintainable, and can be delivered on schedule while ensuring a balance between tactical and strategic technology solutions
- Define service components and their interfaces, allocate responsibilities to service components, understand solution deployment, and communicate requirements for interactions with the solution context
- Work with customers, stakeholders, and suppliers to establish high-level solution intent, the solution intent information models and documentation requirements
- Establish critical NFRs at the solution level
- Understand the value proposition of the business initiatives and ensure that the solutions will enable the promised business value
- Work with portfolio stakeholders, to develop, analyze, and realize the implementation of enabler epics
- Plan and develop the Architectural Runway in support of new business features and capabilities
- Work with Product and Solution Management to determine capacity allocation for enablement work
- Develop the Target Functional Architecture that describes how the enterprise needs to operate to achieve the business goals, and respond to the strategic drivers
- Identify candidate Architecture Roadmap components based upon gaps between the Baseline and Target Architectures
- Apply new and innovative ideas to old or new problems. Foster an environment that encourages innovation. Contribute to and support effort to further build intellectual property via patents.
- Identify current and future trends, technology and information that will positively affect organizational projects; applies and integrates emerging technological trends to new and existing systems architecture.
- Contribute to the overall system implementation strategy for the enterprise and participate in appropriate forums, meetings, presentations etc. to meet goals.
- Mentors team members across the CEE Domain
Minimum Requirements:
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrable ability to influence decision making processes
- Professional experience in either designing architectures or developing software for enterprise data management
- Experience solving problems and delivering high quality results in a fast-paced, unstructured environment
- BS in Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent work experience in enterprise solution architecture
- At least 10 years' experience in designing and architecting enterprise-class applications.
- Balanced mix of technical and business skills in the telecom field with exposure to care, self service, retail, and/or field operations tools.
- Strong working knowledge with the following technologies / products / methodologies:
o Experience with enterprise class, highly available and performant web and mobile applications
o Understanding of software built using software platforms and frameworks
o Service oriented architectures, micro-services, 12-factor apps.
o Streaming and event processing technologies
o NOSQL data stores and cache tools
o Big data technologies
o Machine Learning
o Agile SDLC Scrum preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work across organizational boundaries and promote and influence direction on how to best solve business problems.
